QRCode Monkey vs Ok1Second

Both make a free static QR code you can print, and both let you style it. The difference is what happens the day after you print: a static code is finished artwork, and only a dynamic one can still be changed. Here is what each side actually gives you, from QRCode Monkey's own site.

QRCode Monkey figures read from its pricing page on www.qrcode-monkey.com/ on 2026-10-23.

Where QRCode Monkey is genuinely better

On logos. It will put an image in the middle of a code and tells you to raise error correction to 30% so the code survives it. Ok1Second does not offer that at all: the tool refuses a centre glyph because it is the single most common reason a printed code stops scanning.

On export formats, too: EPS and PDF are there for a designer who needs them, and Ok1Second gives SVG and PNG only.

Where they part company

Its codes are static, and the site says so: they never expire, they scan forever, and the content cannot be changed afterwards. That is honest, and for a poster or a business card it is also enough.

The moment the destination might move — a menu that changes, a campaign that ends, a page you do not control forever — a static code is a decision you cannot take back. A dynamic code redirects through a short link you own, so the printed pattern stays and the destination does not.

Both are free for the static case

If what you need is one static code and no tracking, the free tools do the same job and neither charges you. The comparison only starts to matter when you want the code to be editable, countable, or on your own domain — which is what the $4/month buys.

QRCode Monkey

One-off static codes, especially with a logo, and free of charge.

Ok1Second

Codes that might need to change, or whose scans you want to count — and a custom domain for the same price as a coffee.

Veelgestelde vragen

Are QRCode Monkey codes really free?
Yes. Its site states the generator is 100% free, the codes never expire, there is no scan limit, and commercial use is allowed. Ok1Second's static generator is also free and needs no account.
Can I edit a QRCode Monkey code later?
No. Its codes are static, so the content is fixed at creation and cannot be edited afterwards — the site says this explicitly. Editing needs a dynamic code, which is what Ok1Second sells.
Which one should I use for a restaurant menu?
If the menu never changes, either free static tool will do. If the menu changes, print a dynamic code once and edit the destination — otherwise every price change means reprinting.
Does Ok1Second support logos in the middle?
No, deliberately. A logo covers data modules, and that is the most common way a styled code fails at the printer. Raise the error correction if you add one yourself in an editor, and test the printed proof on two phones.
